We believe in a holistic approach to performance, and that means getting your nutrition needs dialled in as much as your training. Our Performance Nutrition Challenge will guide & educate you over a 10 week period.

Performance Purist is South Africa's premier strength & conditioning gym, with facilities in Riverclub & Bryanston; Johannesburg. We cater for all ages & fitness levels, from professional athletes to those simply looking to improve their functional mobility, we have the knowledge and expertise to cater to your individual needs. We offer group training, semi-private and private sessions as well individual, personalised programs designed using tried and tested methodologies.

Training Specialities

Metabolic Conditioning

Metabolic conditioning describes exercises that vary from moderate to high intensity. The goal of metabolic conditioning is to improve both the aerobic and anaerobic systems. Routines are intended to be completed in roughly 20 minutes and target the use of certain energy pathways. 

Resistance TRaining

Involves the performance of physical exercises which are designed to improve strength and endurance. It is often associated with the use of weights. It can also incorporate a variety of training techniques such as calisthenics, isometrics, and plyometrics.


The snatch, and the clean and jerk. The snatch is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The clean and jerk is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the clean), and then from the shoulders to overhead (the jerk).

POwer Lifting

Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. that emphasizes sheer strength more than technique, flexibility, and speed.

What a performance by @roarke_knapp going big standing strong , toe to toe for 12 rounds to take home the ABU title to add to the collection.

Exciting times ahead for the young champ and we couldn’t be more proud to be in his corner and have him as our own boxing coach.

Kicking off on Monday the 13th June is our Purist Transformation Challenge. You will improve & dial in on your nutrition like never before with the help of our new App, while we simultaneously prep you for our in-house Performance strength challenge.

Winners of this challenge must take on nutritional coaching, as well as compete at the Performance strength challenge to really prove they have completed the transformation challenge the Purist way.
